Transforming the Volkswagen Jetta SEL with H&R Springs
Dropping an Mk VI for performance.
Volkswagen has always had a cult-like following since the days of the original Beetle. Today, the group of enthusiasts is as strong as ever with cars like the sixth-generation Golf, Passat, and Jetta leading the way.
The new, sixth-generation (aka Mk VI) Volkswagen Jetta continues to bring customers and enthusiasts an unmatched combination of European performance, styling, and build quality that the German automaker has been known for. H&R Springs, the German suspension specialists have upgraded the 2011 VW Jetta 2.5 SEL with their newest range of products to give the sedan better style, stance, and performance.
One of the most common complaints about Volkswagen models is the gap between the wheels and the body. To fix this and improve handling, H&R has installed a new set of H&R Sport Springs. The springs lower the overall ride height by 1.3 inches, contributing to a more athletic stance and better handling. Each of the H&R Sport Spring features a progressive spring rate design that improves vehicle dynamics without sacrificing overall ride quality.
After the Sport Springs were installed, the stance was finished off with a complete wheel, tire, and brake upgrade. New, lightweight OZ Superturismo LM wheels were installed in a 19×8.5 fitment and silver painted finish. Optimum contact with the road is achieved by new 235/35 R19 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires. Behind each of the wheels are new four-piston Brembo monoblock calipers clenching down on two-piece, cross-drilled, 14.4-inch rotors. Completing the look are new H&R Trak + aluminum and magnesium hub centric wheel spacers. The spacers can be fitted to stock or aftermarkets wheels and widen each axle to create a powerful look.
Complementing the new stance is new OEM body work. The entire 2011 Jetta SEL was given a body kit complete with rear spoiler from the Volkswagen Accessory range for better aerodynamics, and then then covered by Sticky Jewel Graphics.
The stock 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that cranks out a respectable 170 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. of torque is by no means a dull motor, especially in the H&R Springs Jetta SEL. To gain a few extra horses and unleash an aggressive exhaust note, the German company installed a custom cat-back exhaust system.
The range of accessories and upgrades from H&R Springs transforms the sixth-generation Volkswagen Jetta into an enthusiasts dream, offering both performance and style.
